Even if you don’t live in a place where it gets freezing during winter, the overall cost of your utilities will be higher. What a lot of people don’t realise is that this is an easily fixable issue, all you need to do to save some money and keep your house warm is add a carpet. When you have bare floors, you are experiencing heat loss. Depending on the quality of your floorboards, you can lose up to 30 per cent of your heat. That is why you need to ensure you have a nice cosy carpet to warm up your home.

  • Surface Area Covered Matters

As we have mentioned, when you have bare flooring across your home, you are losing up to 30% of your overall heat. With that being said, the more floor space that you are covering with a carpet, the less heat you will use, therefore you will have a warmer room. The best thing that you can do is choose a rug that will cover a large area. If that is not a look that you like, there are many ways you can still cover your floors. You can either choose to lay down a couple of smaller rugs or you can even have custom made rugs that will fit however you want.

  • Use an Insulated Rug Pad

Something that a lot of people don’t know exists is an insulated rug pad. If you are not choosing something like a 100 per cent wool rug, you must be selecting a good pug pad. It will not only provide you with extra warmth, but it will also provide you with double the cushioning. On top of that, an insulated rug pad will also prevent your carpet from sliding, bucking as well as wrinkling all while warming up the room. Something that you should keep in mind while you are purchasing them is that there are different thicknesses that you can choose as well as the materials. If you are dealing with insulation problems, make sure that you are choosing something such as memory foam or wool, as it is the thickest of onions. Aside from that, you have to ensure that the pad is slightly smaller than the rug.

  • A Heated or Thermal Rug Mat

Another thing that people don’t realise is that if you are snuggling with keeping your house warm during winter even with a carpet, you can get something called a heater or thermal rug mat. It is basically like putting an electric blanket underneath the rug. Most of them will have built-in regulators that will keep the rug from being too warm, so your room will be at the perfect temperature at all times. That also makes it safe for your hardwood or vinyl floors. Something like this is also a great substitute if it is not in your budget to have floor heating installed. Always keep in mind that just like the normal mat, your hearted mat is just a bit smaller than the actual rug to prevent any issues or losing the heat.

  • Insulate Your Home

It is never too late to insulate your home and it can save up to 55 per cent of your heating costs as well as keep it up to 70 per cent cooler during summertime. Having bare floors will not only make it feel cold underfoot, but it will not have something that will trap the air. Choosing a thicker and higher quality carpet will make the hot air stay in the room and make it a soft place for your feet. Installing a thick carpet will reduce your energy bill and make your home cooler and warmer. A lot of people forget that putting a carpet on the floor is just as important as caulking your windows.

The Best Carpet Materials for Home Insulation

The best choice that you can make when you are trying to keep your house warm is by adding a wool carpet. It will not only keep your house warm during winter, but it will also keep your home cooler during summer days.  Make sure that you are choosing a brand that is high quality such as the Carpet Right or your local trusted brand. But wool is not the only natural fibre option that you can choose from. There are many options that you can choose for your household.

  • Close Any Gaps

By having a carpet that will fit all the cracks and gaps in your floor, you will see a large difference. What a lot of people don’t realise is that the equivalent of all the cracks and gaps in your floor is like leaving your window open. Having a rug covering the floor and closing all the gaps will instantaneously make your home a warmer place.

  • Stay Warm and Save Money

Adding carpets to your home will make your house more comfortable during winter and it will reduce the chilliness in your home.  But what people don’t think about is that simply having a nice thick carpet in your home will not only make your home a nice temperature it will make you wealthier.

  • Comfort and Warmth

Having a carpet will not only physically make your home warmer but it will give it a warm and cosy feeling.  There is nothing that will give you that homey feeling that raiders warmth than nice carpets.

When you are investing in good quality carpets for your house, you will be able to not only turn on your heat later on during the season, you will be able to keep it on for a shorter drying of your days as well as turn them off sooner in the season. If you have carpets, you will be able to hold off turning on your heart because your home will be able to trap heat for longer throughout the seasons. On top of that, cosy carpets will make your home feel homier.
